Kids Crackers

There are a variety of options for fireworks and crackers specifically designed for children to enjoy celebrations like Diwali safely and responsibly.

Here are some of the most popular and recommended types:

Safe and kid-friendly fireworks

  • Electric Sparklers: These sparklers eliminate the risks associated with traditional sparklers like burns and sparks, emitting a mesmerizing display of colorful lights without any flames.
  • Flower Pots: These classic Diwali favorites produce a fountain of sparks and colors when lit, creating a magical atmosphere. Ensure they are lit in an open area, away from flammable materials.
  • Chakras (Spinning Wheels): These spinning wheels produce a mesmerizing display of colors and patterns as they twirl on the ground, minimizing the risks associated with handheld fireworks.
  • Novelty Snaps and Poppers: Also known as pop-pops, snappers, bang snaps, party snaps, or throwdowns, these are considered the best crackers for children due to their minimal explosiveness and safety features like a buffer of coarse sand or gravel to reduce the shock wave.
  • Fountains: These low-key, exciting ground fireworks produce a variety of effects with a glittering shower of colorful sparks, lasting for about a minute on average and being relatively quiet compared to other fireworks.
  • Ground Spinners: Also known as jumping jacks or blooming flowers, these disk-shaped spinners create exciting displays by spinning on the ground and emitting sparks.

Important safety reminders

  • Adult supervision is crucial when children are around any type of fireworks, even those designed for kids.
  • Read and follow the instructions on the packaging of each firework.
  • Ensure fireworks are used in an open area, away from flammable objects.
  • Keep a bucket of water or sand nearby for emergencies or to soak used sparklers.
  • Never try to relight a “dud” firework; wait for a safe amount of time, soak it in water, and then dispose of it properly.
  • Teach children never to touch, throw, or play with fireworks.

By choosing age-appropriate and safe fireworks and following safety guidelines, you can ensure a fun and memorable celebration for the whole family, especially for young celebrants.
